Raman Steals Brinjal

Krishnadevaraya ordered his garden to grow a special variety of brinjal, which was seedless; raman tasted the brinjal when he had dinner with the king. He liked it very much.

Raman: You know what, today I had lunch with the king a special dish made of seedless brinjal was served, and it was very tasty.

Lakshmi: Seedless brinjal! I also want to taste it, can you please get it for me?

Raman: But the king is growing them in his garden, the gardener would not allow anyone to take them.

Raman wanted to make his wife happy so he stole a few brinjals from the garden and lakshmi cooked it.

Lakshmi: Here, the delicious dishes ready. Our son is sleeping outside, please wake him up to have dinner. I’m sure he too would like it very much.

Raman sprinkled some water on his son

Raman’s Son: Oh! Oh! It’s raining!

The next morning when the king came to know of the theft, he doubted on raman. He brought raman’s son to the court, thinking that children would not lie.

King: Dear son, did you eat brinjal yesterday?

Raman’s Son: Yes your majesty, it was very tasty.

King: When did you eat it?

Raman’s Son: Yesterday night, I was sleeping in my house and I woke up when it rained and I ate the tasty brinjal.

As there wasn’t any rain on the previous day the king did not have any doubt on raman.

Moral: Stealing something is not a good quality. Ramans wife was the citizen of Vijayanagar and she had all the rights to enjoy any wonder that belonged to Vijay Nagar. When the royal gardener denied to give brinjals raman stole it but later he confessed to the king.
